Looking for something special, meaningful, and handcrafted? My paper-cut artwork, featuring a playful cute rat tucked inside a “Fu” bag, is more than just a decoration—it’s a story brought to life through art.

Let me tell you about it. In Chinese culture, the word “Fu” (福) is everywhere, especially during festive times like Chinese New Year. It means blessings, good fortune, and happiness. People hang it upside down on doors to symbolize that “Fu” (luck) has arrived. Now, pair that with the rat—a clever, quick-thinking creature that also happens to be the first animal in the Chinese zodiac. Together, they create a powerful message: intelligence and resourcefulness bringing prosperity and good luck.

This design was a joy to create. I took the traditional concept of “Fu” and gave it a fresh, playful twist by having the rat peeking out of the bag. It’s small, intricate, and full of personality. Every detail is carefully cut by hand—no machines, just hours of precision and focus. Red paper, the symbol of joy and luck, makes the design stand out beautifully, adding a pop of tradition and meaning.

This piece is perfect as a gift. Whether it’s for Chinese New Year, a birthday, a housewarming, or just because you want to share some good fortune, it’s the kind of present that’s small enough to slip into a card but big on thoughtfulness. It’s also easy to frame or display, making it a charming keepsake for anyone who receives it.

I love creating art that carries meaning, and this rat in a “Fu” bag is one of my favorite designs. It’s more than just paper—it’s a little piece of culture and tradition, handmade with care and love. Bring it home, gift it to someone, and let the blessings of “Fu” shine!
